Explore original KTR Systems GmbH couplings, flexible elements, flange couplings, coupling spiders and polyamide sleeves for industrial machinery, hydraulic pump drives, compressors, generators, construction equipment and mobile applications.

AWELASTIC supplies selected KTR coupling components from the BoWex, BoWex-ELASTIC and ROTEX product families. Products displayed on this brand page should always be selected according to the exact coupling series, size, design, material specification and installed drive configuration.

Original KTR Systems GmbH Couplings

KTR Systems GmbH develops and manufactures coupling and drive technology for mechanical engineering, plant construction and industrial power-transmission applications.

The complete KTR coupling portfolio includes torsionally flexible jaw couplings, curved-tooth gear couplings, highly flexible flange couplings, steel lamina couplings, servo couplings and other specialised shaft connections.

The AWELASTIC KTR range focuses on commonly requested replacement components, including:

  • BoWex FLE-PA flange couplings
  • BoWex-ELASTIC flexible coupling elements
  • ROTEX spiders and elastomer elements
  • BoWex M polyamide coupling sleeves
  • Selected KTR hubs, inserts and mounting components

Similar-looking KTR components may have different dimensions, hardness values, tooth profiles, flange standards or torque characteristics. The complete product identification should therefore be checked before ordering.

KTR BoWex FLE-PA Flange Couplings

KTR BoWex FLE-PA couplings are torsionally stiff curved-tooth flange couplings developed primarily for connections between diesel engines and hydraulic pumps.

The coupling combines a fibre-glass-reinforced polyamide flange with a steel hub featuring external curved teeth. This material combination supports maintenance-free operation and creates a compact connection suitable for mobile machinery and engine-driven hydraulic systems.

The current AWELASTIC catalogue includes selected BoWex FLE-PA products in sizes such as:

  • BoWex 48 FLE-PA
  • BoWex 65 FLE-PA
  • BoWex 80 FLE-PA
  • BoWex 100 FLE-PA
  • BoWex 125 FLE-PA

BoWex FLE-PA flanges are available with different external diameters, bolt patterns and flywheel connections. The coupling size alone is therefore not sufficient to confirm the correct replacement.

Check the flange diameter, internal tooth count, bolt-circle dimensions, flange thickness and flywheel specification. For additional guidance, use the KTR BoWex FLE-PA identification guide.

KTR BoWex-ELASTIC Coupling Elements

KTR BoWex-ELASTIC coupling elements are highly flexible flange coupling components used where torsional vibration damping and compensation for drivetrain movement are important.

The coupling system combines a circular rubber element with an axial plug-in BoWex hub. Depending on the design, the engine-side mounting flange may correspond with an SAE flywheel connection or a special application-specific dimension.

AWELASTIC supplies selected BoWex-ELASTIC products in sizes including 42, 48, 65, 80 and 100. Available executions can include HE1, HE2, HE3 and HE4 arrangements with different flange diameters and elastomer hardness specifications.

The elastomer hardness affects the torsional characteristics of the coupling. A T40 Shore A element should not automatically be replaced with a T50 or T65 Shore A element simply because the dimensions appear identical.

Before ordering, verify:

  • The complete BoWex-ELASTIC size
  • The HE design or mounting arrangement
  • The flange diameter and SAE standard
  • The Shore hardness
  • The matching BoWex hub
  • The engine and driven equipment specification

Use the KTR BoWex-ELASTIC identification guide when the original marking is incomplete or difficult to read.

KTR ROTEX Spiders and Elastomer Elements

KTR ROTEX spiders are elastomer elements installed between the two coupling hubs of a torsionally flexible ROTEX jaw coupling.

The spider transmits torque while helping damp vibration and absorb shock loads. Its elastic deformation also allows the complete coupling to compensate for limited axial, radial and angular displacement.

KTR ROTEX spiders are available in multiple sizes and material hardnesses. Official KTR T-PUR colour identification includes:

  • Orange – 92 Shore A
  • Purple or lilac – 98 Shore A
  • Light green – 64 Shore D

The colour and Shore hardness must be checked together with the ROTEX size. Installing an element with the wrong hardness can change the damping and torsional stiffness of the coupling system.

A worn ROTEX spider may show cracking, permanent deformation, missing lobes, hardening, excessive clearance or material deterioration. The matching hubs should also be inspected before a new spider is installed.

For help checking the size, material and hardness, see the KTR ROTEX spider identification guide.

KTR BoWex M Coupling Sleeves

KTR BoWex M sleeves are polyamide components used with matching steel hubs in curved-tooth gear coupling assemblies.

The nylon-and-steel material combination supports maintenance-free operation without regular grease or oil lubrication. The curved-tooth design allows the coupling to compensate for axial, radial and angular shaft displacement within its specified limits.

The current AWELASTIC range includes original BoWex M sleeves in sizes such as:

  • BoWex M-14
  • BoWex M-19
  • BoWex M-24
  • BoWex M-28
  • BoWex M-32
  • BoWex M-38
  • BoWex M-42
  • BoWex M-48

A BoWex sleeve should be matched with the corresponding coupling size and hub tooth profile. Similar external dimensions do not guarantee compatibility with a different BoWex size.

KTR BoWex Hubs and Matching Components

KTR BoWex coupling systems use hubs with external curved teeth that engage with the internal teeth of the flange or polyamide sleeve.

Hub selection can depend on the shaft diameter, spline specification, taper bore, keyway, pump shaft connection and coupling family. A correctly identified flange or sleeve can still be incompatible if the wrong hub version is selected.

When checking a KTR hub, record:

  • The complete hub marking
  • The number and profile of the external teeth
  • The bore or spline dimensions
  • The keyway dimensions
  • The overall hub length
  • The mounting and retaining arrangement

Additional examples and measurement points are available in the KTR BoWex hubs identification guide.

KTR Couplings for Engine-to-Pump Applications

KTR BoWex FLE-PA and selected BoWex-ELASTIC couplings are commonly used in engine-driven hydraulic systems. These installations can be found in construction machinery, forestry equipment, agricultural machines, mobile compressors, industrial power units and other diesel-powered equipment.

The coupling must match both sides of the drivetrain. This includes the engine flywheel or shaft connection and the hydraulic pump, gearbox, generator or compressor connection.

Machines from the same model family may have different engines, pumps or flywheel standards. The equipment model alone may therefore be insufficient for identifying the replacement coupling.

How to Identify the Correct KTR Coupling

Before ordering a KTR coupling element, flange, spider, sleeve or hub, collect all available information from the installed component and the complete machine.

Please check:

  • The complete KTR product family
  • The coupling size
  • The full part number or product marking
  • The elastomer material and Shore hardness
  • The coupling type or HE execution
  • The flange diameter and bolt pattern
  • The number of internal or external teeth
  • The shaft bore, spline or keyway dimensions
  • The engine, pump, gearbox or compressor model
  • The machine manufacturer, model and serial number
  • Clear photographs of both sides of the component
  • A photograph of the complete installed coupling assembly

When the original part number is available, it should be used as the main identification reference. Dimensions and photographs should provide additional confirmation.

KTR-Kupplungstechnik Markings on Older Components

Some existing KTR coupling components may carry older manufacturer markings such as KTR-Kupplungstechnik rather than the current KTR Systems GmbH name.

Other visible information can include the coupling series, size, material code, Shore hardness and an older Rheine address. These markings can help identify an original BoWex flange, sleeve, ROTEX spider or related KTR component.

A material marking or patent number alone may not identify the complete coupling version. Record every visible marking and compare it with the dimensions of the installed part.

Why KTR Coupling Size and Hardness Matter

The coupling size determines essential dimensions and torque capacity, while the material hardness influences the torsional behaviour, damping and response of the coupling.

Two elements with the same outside diameter may still differ in Shore hardness, mounting type, internal tooth profile or intended application. Replacing a component with an unverified alternative can result in installation problems or altered drivetrain behaviour.

For engines, generators, compressors and other vibration-sensitive systems, the replacement should correspond with the original technical specification and any available drivetrain calculation.

Signs of a Worn KTR Coupling Component

Inspect the coupling if the machine develops unusual vibration, increased drivetrain noise, irregular movement, visible clearance or repeated coupling damage.

Common signs of wear include:

  • Cracks or splits in rubber and polyurethane elements
  • Missing or damaged ROTEX spider lobes
  • Permanent deformation of the elastomer
  • Worn internal or external coupling teeth
  • Excessive rotational clearance
  • Damaged flange holes or fasteners
  • Worn hub splines or keyways
  • Signs of overheating or contamination
  • Misalignment between the connected components

The reason for premature coupling failure should be investigated before installing a replacement. Repeated wear may indicate misalignment, damaged hubs, loose mountings, excessive vibration or another drivetrain problem.
