Silicone Coupling Elements – High-Temperature OEM Solution
Silicone coupling elements are designed for applications where standard natural rubber (NR) elements reach their limits. Manufactured by CENTA Germany and easily recognized by their distinctive yellow color, these elastomers are engineered for high thermal resistance, vibration damping, and long service life in extreme-duty powertrains.
Silicone couplings are developed together with engine and machinery OEMs using torsional vibration analysis (TVA). This ensures that the selected Shore hardness (Standard 50 or 60) matches the exact torsional stiffness required by the drivetrain.
Technical Advantages of Silicone Elements
- High thermal resistance: Continuous operation from –45 °C to +120 °C, with peaks up to +150 °C.
- Superior damping under vibration: Reduces torsional oscillations, resonance, and shock loads.
- Available Shore hardness: 50 and 60 (standard), 70 (special type for higher torque).
- Enhanced chemical resistance: Stable performance in the presence of industrial oils, fuels, and ozone.
- Easy identification: Yellow silicone elastomer vs. black color natural rubber.
Where Silicone Couplings Are Used
Silicone elements are preferred in industries and machinery exposed to high thermal loads and continuous vibration:
- Roadbuilding equipment – asphalt pavers, milling machines, and rollers.
- Drilling rigs and mining machinery – exposed to heat, dust, and continuous load changes.
- Generator sets (gensets) – diesel-driven units in compact enclosures or hot climates.
- Marine auxiliaries – onboard generators, thrusters, and propulsion support systems.
- Rail traction and powerpacks – where smooth operation and reduced vibration are critical.
OEM Identification
All genuine silicone elements are:
- Marked with CENTA + size designation (e.g., CENTAMAX 5000 // CM-5000)
- Produced in yellow silicone elastomer
- Stamped with Shore hardness (50 / 60 )
- These details guarantee OEM originality and compatibility with the driveline engineered by CENTA and the machinery producer.
Why Choose OEM Silicone Coupling Elements?
- OEM parts = TVA-calculated performance
- Longer service life in high-heat and high-vibration environments
- Predictable damping protects the entire drivetrain
- Avoids costly downtime from non-original replicas
- Immediate identification thanks to yellow color coding
